What's the price in Dollars?
This is top-of-the-pops in our FAQ. It may come as a bit of a surprise to some who stumble upon our site, but we are actually a United Kingdom registered company and consequently, all our prices are in UK
Pounds Sterling (GBP, UKP, £ etc.) Money markets being what they are, the US$ rate changes on a daily basis. If you want a good currency rate converter try
http://www.xe.net/ucc/
Can you bill me in US $? [top] Nope - if we are asked to, we can only provide an approximation of the price in US$.
Very occasionally, we might agree a price in US$ rather than GBP - if we are then charging a credit card for this transaction, we will look up the rate at the Universal Currency Converter website: http://www.xe.net/ucc/
We will then charge your card the GBP rate on the day of purchase. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, by the time this reaches your statement, it may be slightly more or less in US$ than originally quoted. If this is the case, there is NO WAY we will refund any increase in charges - we are just as much at the mercy of the money markets as you are!
Do you have a US$ account I can pay directly into? [top]
Not at the moment. We used to, but we were stuffed with ridiculous charges by our bank every time we used it so we knocked that one on the head as it was just UN-economical to run. Can I pay by credit card? [top] Of course - we love credit cards - it's fastest on the block for us and our customers. We currently accept VISA, M/C, JCB, VISA DELTA, SWITCH and SOLO cards - most of
the time, with no extra charges. Occasionally, we might levy a small surcharge if the item is of high value - this is because higher value items usually have lower margins but the card companies' commission
percentage remains the same. Can I pay by American Express?
[top] Not at the moment. AMEX stuff us for 5% commission charges here in the UK (more than twice as much as everyone else) which we feel is just taking the piss. If we took
AMEX we would have to add a surcharge to the purchase price to cover this. However, if we get enough feedback from people wanting to use AMEX and are willing to pay the surcharge, we will start to consider
taking it. Can I pay by Diners Club? [top] Who? Get a life...
Can I pay by bank telegraphic transfer? [top] Yes Sir-ee, you may shoot money straight into our account. The targeting
co-ordinates are as follows:
When transferring, please make sure unless otherwise agreed, transfer is in Pounds Sterling and add 12 pounds to cover our bank charges. Can I pay by cheque? [top]
Yep,
just make your cheques (£ukp Sterling
ONLY) payable to AVT(UK)Ltd Personal
cheques are only accepted on UK bank
account and will take 10 days to
clear.
Can I pay by cash? [top] We will gladly accept cash, but we don't recommend you send it to us for
obvious reasons. If you insist, you had better send it by a traceable method as we cannot be held responsible for items lost in the post. Far better is to arrange to come down to our premises (by appointment
only) with large wads of cash - if the wad is large enough, we might even buy you a fish n' chip lunch. I don't have a credit card, I don't want to pay by cash. What do I do? Send us a personal cheque (UK customers only) we will need 10 days for cheque to clear, once this has cleared goods will be despatched to you. For
European customers you may send us a GBP Sterling Eurocheque, but each cheque may not be more than 500 pounds in value - if they are, it will take 30 days to clear. I'm afraid we do not accept cheques of any
kind (including cashiers, or bankers) in any currency apart from GB Pounds Sterling.
I don't have
a credit card, I don't have a bank account and I don't have any cash - What do I do?
[top] Dear oh dear - if you really want an item we have then you better
find something from somewhere! At our desecration we may accept payment, or part payment in real estate, Rolex watches, European sports cars (RHD only) and maybe the odd sexual favour from your sister (only
joking of course ;-) Let us know what you have - you never know what may happen...
Do you do any credit terms, or HP? [top] No, but we know a man who does. Although we cannot offer any credit terms
ourselves, we can put you in touch with people who can.
Can you ship COD (Cash On Delivery)? [top] No chance, sorry... Can I open an account with you?
[top] Nice idea, but no, we don't offer this facility. Do you accept PO's (Purchase Orders)? [top] Not usually, but at our discretion we make certain exceptions for UK educational establishments and some UK blue chip plc's. When do you charge my credit card?
[top] Unless we are taking a deposit from you card (see below), or unless
we agree with you otherwise, we will only charge you card when the items are ready to be shipped to you. We NEVER use your card to buy stock and then send it to you when we get it here. Can I reserve an item? [top] Due to the high demand we receive for certain s/h items and due to a small proportion of time wasting tossers, we have had to implement the following holding and
reserving policy: We will only hold items verbally for 24 hours, after 24 hours we will require a 15% deposit - this will hold the item for a further 30 days. If after 30 days you still do not have the
ability to pay in full for the item, we will either need another 15%, or if you have changed your mind and you do not want the item, you loose your deposit. Before reserving or placing a deposit on an
item, make sure it is what you want as DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE.
Are your prices including VAT? [top] Nope, our prices are all excluding VAT. This means for all items collected
from our premises, or all items shipped to a UK address we have to charge an additional 17.5% VAT. For the rest of the EEC countries, if you have a valid VAT, or local equivalent number in your own country
which we can verify, we will not charge you UK VAT.For export to outside the EEC, no additional UK taxes are charged.
